AS WE WENT TO PRESS
we were saddened to hear of the passing of Tatuzo Shimaoka in Japan on December 11, 2007. Selected a Living National Treasure, he was a former apprentice to Shoji Hamada and himself a mentor to many others. He was the subject of a feature article in
Vol 29 No 2, the cover of which was a copy of the introductory paragraph in his own calligraphy.
