Special Projects
Archive PreservationStudio Potter takes an active role in developing a national understanding of the importance for archival preservation and scholarship in ceramics. We are working with NCECA, as well as with other craft organization including the American Craft Council, to increase awareness of the written information, photographs and taped interviews, to insure the historical legitimacy and survival of our craft. Global Ceramics CultureCeramics is a regional, national and now a world-wide phenomenon. Merging of traditional cultural boundaries as well as the proliferation of information encourages a global view of ceramics. As a global culture, ceramics is based on three things: objects and artifacts made by potters throughout the world, attitudes and behaviors toward their work, and the values and ideals held in common. Gathering information on global ceramics stimulates relations between potters, providing information exchange on new techniques and aesthetics, giving inspiration to young people and economic assistance to fading markets. Studio Potter has an ongoing project entitled "The Global Ceramics Culture," involving key people throughout the world with expertise on ceramic technology, aesthetics, training, economics, and culture. |
